What is Saju?
Saju, often translated as the Four Pillars of Destiny, represents the year, month, day and hour of birth as four pillars made from heavenly stems and earthly branches. Traditional readings examine the relationships of yin-yang and the five elements across the full chart.
Yin, Yang and the Five Elements
Wood is associated with growth and planning, Fire with expression and momentum, Earth with stability and coordination, Metal with order and decision, and Water with storage, wisdom and flexibility. No single element is simply good or bad.
The four pillars
The year, month, day and hour pillars are read together rather than as isolated labels. A traditional interpretation also considers seasonal timing and relationships among stems and branches.
How to use a reading
Use Saju as cultural fortune-telling and self-reflection, not as a substitute for medical, legal or financial judgement.
